Planning Policy in Hyndburn

Planning policies shape how places will be developed in the future. The Local Plan is currently used to guide the Council's day-to-day planning decisions and explains what type of development will normally be allowed and where.

The Local Plan is gradually being replaced by the Local Development Framework. The Local Development Framework is a folder of local development documents outlining how planning will be managed in Hyndburn.

The key documents within the Local Development Framework include -

This will set out how Hyndburn will develop over the next 15 years or so. There are other documents that make up the Local Development Framework. Some of these have been completed, whilst others are being prepared. Further details can be found by selecting the document you are interested in at the bottom of this page.

All local planning policy should be read in conjunction with the Regional Spatial Strategy for the Northwest and Lancashire's Minerals and Waste documents.
