About Accrington Crematorium

Accrington Crematorium is located on Burnley Road, BB5 6HA, and is situated in the grounds of Accrington Cemetery.

The first cremation was carried out on 10th September 1956 and to date 45,910 cremations have taken place.

The Crematorium services the Hyndburn area and also some residents of the Ribble Valley and Rossendale areas use this facility.

Hyndburn Borough Council is a full member of the Federation of British Cremation Authorities and operates under their strict code of practice. Anyone wishing to inspect the crematorium may do so by prior appointment.

Hyndburn Borough Council has adopted the Institute of Burial and Cremation Management Charter for the Bereaved.  This Charter is a commitment to improving both the cemetery and crematorium services and related aspects of bereavement.  The Charter defines the rights of every individual who experiences a bereavement and sets out standards of service related to burial, cremation and funerals.  It is a written statement of what can be expected and will enable people to judge the quality of the service they receive.  The rights in this Charter are available for inspection at the Cemetery Office.
