Meet the Mayor and Mayoress of Hyndburn
Councillor Judith Addison was elected Mayor of Hyndburn for the Municipal Year 2013-2014 at the Council's AGM on Thursday 16th May 2013.
Councilor Addison has served Immanuel ward since 2009. The Mayor is a lifelong resident of Oswaldtwistle and was educated locally at Hippings Methodist Primary School and Accrington High School for girls. She obtained a degree in French and Latin from the University of Leeds and is an Associate of the Chartered Institure of Secretaries and Admisitrators. She spent most of her working life as a Local Land Charges Officer at Hyndburn Borough Council.
The Mayor has a wide range of interests. She is a lay reader at St Paul's C of E Church, Oswaldtwistle and a National Trust room guide at Gawthorpe Hall in Padiham. She is a governor at three local schools and a trustee of the board of Surestart, Hyndburn. For 25 years the Mayor was also a walk leaders for the Ramblers Association and was actively involved in several local choirs.
The Mayor is very much looking forward to her year in office and meeting as many of the borough's residents as possible. She will be glad to receive invitations from all areas of the community and will endeavour to accept as many as possible.
