Meet the Mayor of Hyndburn

Councillor Peter Britcliffe was elected as Mayor of Hyndburn for the Municipal Year 2017/18 at the Council's AGM on Thursday, 11 May 2017.

Councillor Britcliffe has served as a Councillor for Oswaldtwistle St. Andrew's Ward for a total of 33 years.  He is the second longest serving member in the history of Hyndburn Borough Council and was Leader of the Council from 1999 to 2011.

The Mayor has three grown up children and his youngest, Sara, will support him as Mayoress, whilst his youngest son, Dominic, will act as Consort.

Councillor Britcliffe is particularly keen to support and raise awareness of local voluntary groups, business and other organisations.  The money he raises for charities will be distributed to local good causes.

Councillor Britcliffe said, "I am honoured, yet humbled to be Mayor of this wonderful Borough."
