Hyndburn Borough Council Parks department takes environmental issues and the prospect of climate change very seriously.

The measures taken by the parks department include:

  • Restricted chemical use including herbicides and pesticides.
  • Avoiding the use of peat and peat based products.
  • Consideration of planting drought tolerant species and a mixture of tree species, to deal with predicted climatic changes.
  • Tree planting
  • Wildflower planting recently undertaken at Peel Park and Oak Hill Park.
