Recycling
Your Green Bin
This is used to recycle your garden waste such as grass cuttings, hedge trimmings, leaves, plants, twigs/small branches cut flowers etc.
Placing a sheet of newspaper at the bottom of the bin helps prevent the contents sticking and will also soak up any residual liquid.
Please do not put in any plastic bags/products, pet waste, soil, stones, turf or rubble. Remember if it will not compost, leave it out!
At present we can NOT collect any food stuffs, vegetable peelings or fruit waste from the kitchen in your green bin. However there is a new home compost bin scheme starting on 22nd March 2010 throughout Lancashire. Bins will be available to buy at a reasonable rate as part of this scheme and will be delivered to homes in Lancashire with full instructions on how to get started.
Bin prices start at just £14, with £5 delivery (to total £19) and an option to buy one get one half price on certain bins.
To find out more about composting or to order a bin visit www.lancashire.getcomposting.com or call the order line on 0844 571 4444 (calls charged at 5p per minute from a BT landline; other landline or mobile operators may vary).
