Portas Pilot Bid
Published Tuesday 10th April 2012 in Community and living news
In conjunction with our partners Accrington and Rossendale College and Hyndburn Enterprise Trust, the Council have submitted a bid to Government to become a 'Portas Pilot'.
A fund of £1.2m is available and it is anticipated there will be 12 pilots across the whole country.
The recommendations made by Mary Portas aim to make our town centres more than just retail outlets suggest we have to start thinking differently about how to attract people.
The Hyndburn bid proposes to establish the Hyndburn Business Hub where businesses and organisation will be able to find out in one place what opportunities are available in the town centre. This may be for retail, business or community use.
The aim is to make the process of accessing opportunities as simple and transparent as possible.
As part of the bid all applicants had to submit a short video on Youtube. The Hyndburn bid can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQowsdPJB5A .
