Managing Your Payments and Bill

Business rates bills are set in financial years and run from 1 April to 31 March each year. New annual bills are sent mid-March every year and will contain your details, the total amount of business rates you owe minus any discounts or reliefs which may apply, and an instalment plan for payments.

Business rates bills issued or amended during the course of the year will run up to 31 March (or until the liability ends or is amended for any reason).

We are phasing out paper bills and all businesses will be set up on our online Connect service and asked to use e-bills.

Payment dates

A standard business rates bill will be issued with 10 monthly instalments from April to January each year and will be billed on the first of the month. This can be extended to 12 months (April to March) on request.

There is a choice of four payment dates for direct debits – 1st, 10th, 20th and 28th of each month.

Payment options

There are a number of ways to pay your business rates.

· By Direct Debit

· Online by debit or credit card

· By cash or cheque at any Pay Point outlet or Post Office

· By standing order

· By bank transfer
