Charge Point for Electric Vehicles

New Charge Points installed in Accrington

Hyndburn Borough Council has installed a new charging facility for electric vehicles in Accrington town centre on Union Street adjacent to the Town Hall and will be capable of charging an electric car from zero to 80% in just 40 minutes FREE of charge.

The rapid charge point is a New Triple Standard Charging System (AC/DC/CCS – 43kw/50kw/44kw) that provides a solution for rapid / fast charging.

This includes:

  • The CHAdeMO 44kW DC Standard for Nissan, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Peugeot, Citroen and Subara
  • CCS 44kW DC Combined Charging System for BMW, VW, Audi, GM
  • AC 43kW Type 2 with tethered cable Type 2 female plug for Renault Zoe

The Charge point is supported by Polar Instant software and can be used following these instructions.

How to use:

  1. Download the free app from the App Store  or Google Play. Follow the simple instructions to register and set up your account in accordance with Polars terms and conditions.
  2. Drive to the charging point that you wish to use using the directions provided if required and follow the simple instructions on the smartphone screen.

Free lifetime RFID Card:

When you have registered, set up your account and you will be sent a FREE lifetime RFID card. The card may be used if your smartphone has poor coverage to communicate with the charging point for example if you are in an underground car park.

You may also set up your account, view charging point locations, status and tariffs as well as check your charging history and account details on line at in the same way as on your smartphone app.
