For an asset to be listed it will be necessary to show that its main use now, or in the recent past, contributes to the social well-being or cultural, recreational or sporting interests of the local community and that this use is likely to continue. Examples could include: village shops, local post offices, community centres or playing fields.
Alternatively, an asset can qualify if was used for such purposes in the recent past, and it is realistic to think that there is a time in the next five years when it could do so again (whether or not in the same way as before).
