Council Tax is a national system of paying a tax towards local services. It was introduced in 1993 and is collected in Hyndburn by us as a billing authority.
We collect Council Tax on behalf of Lancashire County Council, Lancashire Fire and Rescue and Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner. 72.4% of the Council Tax bill is collected on behalf of Lancashire County Council, Hyndburn Borough Council receives 12.7%, 11.3% goes to Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner and 3.6% goes to Lancashire Fire and Rescue.
