This policy outlines the criteria for advertising community events on the Council website. Acceptable Events Community Focus: The event must be of primary benefit to the local community and promote social interaction, cultural understanding, or community development. Lawful Activity: The event cannot promote or endorse any activity that is illegal or violates local bylaws. This includes events promoting hate speech, discrimination, or violence. Non-Commercial: The event cannot be primarily for commercial purposes. Events with a minor sales element (e.g., refreshments to cover costs) may be considered. Family-Friendly: The event content must be appropriate for all ages unless clearly age-restricted and advertised as such. Accurate Information: The event description must be accurate and clearly outline the event's purpose, date, time, location, and any admission fees. Public Liability Insurance: Organisers of events held on public property or requiring road closures must provide proof of adequate public liability insurance. Unacceptable Events Political rallies or campaigns Events promoting religious beliefs or practices Events organised by private businesses for their own profit Events promoting gambling or alcohol consumption (unless incidental to the main event) Ticket-only events with excessive admission fees Images You must upload an image alongside your events. Events submitted without a supporting image will be rejected. Images should be in jpeg format Images may be portrait or landscape Photographs of event posters will not be accepted Images must be in sharp focus Images must not exceed 5mb in size Review Process All submitted events will be reviewed by Council staff before being published on the website. The Council reserves the right to refuse to advertise an event at its sole discretion, even if it meets the above criteria. Reasons for refusal may include: Insufficient information provided Concerns about the event's suitability for public advertisement Conflicting with another already-advertised event Disclaimer The Council does not endorse or sponsor any events advertised on its website unless this is clearly indicated.
