The Great Harwood Events Team cordially invites the townsfolk to take part in the following;

Great Harwood Coronation Celebrations

Thanks to the generosity of Great Harwood people, local shops, stores and businesses, Hyndburn Council, and Lancashire County Council the following events can take place free of charge.

A Souvenir Programme of the Great Harwood Coronation events will be available on the lead up to the celebrations.

The week before the Coronation 

Flags and bunting will be erected around the town centre;
The children attending the town’s five primary schools will be presented with commemorative medals;
Shops are invited to enter a Best Dressed Window competition;
A walking Family Treasure Hunt will take place.

The Coronation Weekend Celebrations

Saturday 6 May

Live Screening of the Coronation at the Bank Mill Centre.

This is open to local people (mainly the elderly) who would like to watch the event in the company of others rather than staying at home by themselves.

Plug and Play event on the steps of Mercer Hall.

Local musicians will have the opportunity to step up, display their talents, and entertain us all for the afternoon.

Sunday 7 May

Fancy dress procession.

The local youth groups, uniformed groups, voluntary groups, and families are invited to take part in a grand procession from the Town Hall Square to Memorial Park in time for the Picnic in the Park.

In line with the Palace’s request that we join in a “Coronation Big Lunch”, families of all ages are invited to come and enjoy the musical entertainment, the fairground rides and the sporting events for children.
