The Acorn Medical Centre team in Accrington have opened their doors to invite everyone aged 16 or over for their vaccination.
As one of the first places in the UK to offer this, young people from Hyndburn and neighbouring towns were happy to queue outside in the Lancashire weather to get their jab over the weekend.
Over 52,000 people in Hyndburn have had at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine and this number is predicted to rapidly grow with the offer extended to those 16 and over.
Cllr Miles Parkinson, OBE, Leader of Hyndburn Borough Council said:
“This is fantastic news and a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved. Hyndburn are leading the way and it was wonderful to see just how many young people were eager to come and get the jab, to protect their community, their family, friends and themselves.
On behalf of everyone in Hyndburn I would like to thank the team at the Acorn Medical Centre for this service and offer.”
The Acorn Medical Centre, Accrington, BB5 1RT is open for 1st and 2nd doses of the Pfizer vaccine on Thursday 12th August and Friday 13th August, 11am-3pm and 3:30pm-7:30pm plus Saturday 14th August 10am-4pm.
No appointment is needed, everyone aged 16 or over can just turn up. For second doses it must be 8 or more weeks since the first dose.
