Accrington Market to host FREE Halloween Party for local children

Families are invited to attend a FREE Halloween Party at Accrington’s historic market hall for a day of fang-tastic crafts, games, music and fun.

Hosted on Saturday 29 October, there will be a number of free activities and games for children to enjoy including a spook-tacular disco, DJ and games, glitter tattoos and creepy crafts.

Families can also decorate Halloween biscuits with local event organisers, Cook Stars between 10am and 2pm, and meet a number of creepy crawlies with the Wriggle Show between 1pm and 3pm.

With no need to book and free to attend, this event forms part of Accrington Market’s programme of free activities for local children during the school holidays, after a busy summer of free crafts, cooking and theatre performances within the hall.

Sameena King, Accrington Market’s Manager, said: “Free family events are always really popular at Accrington Market and help local families to enjoy quality time together without the added pressures of having to buy expensive day tickets.

“We had a very busy summer hosting free theatre performances with the Civic Arts Centre and Theatre, an eco-fair, Cook Stars cooking classes and pop-up stalls for the Accrington Soapbox Challenge.

“Many of our independent market traders have been here for 35+ years, or have special memories of visiting the market as a child with their parents so it is wonderful to be able to welcome so many local families and help them to make new memories within our historic building.”

Local businesses, hobbyists, community groups and charities are invited to book pop-up stalls at Accrington Market and to take advantage of five weeks of busy events and festive shopping including the Halloween party and Christmas Lights Switch On (Thursday 24 November).

Sameena added: “If you have a great idea and would like to make some additional money, we are offering five-week bookings for pop-up stalls inside the market for just £50 – and charities and community groups can book for free.”
