The Council has launched the ninth phase of the Additional Restriction Grant scheme.
The Additional Restriction Grant will provide financial assistance and support to businesses which are allowed to remain open and trading during the period of national restrictions, but have been severely impacted during the period of national restrictions, together with businesses that are required to close that do not have their own business rates assessment.
The scheme is open to businesses that are both liable to pay business rates and appear in the Valuation Rating list as well as businesses that do not meet this criteria.
The level of grant award is at the discretion of the Council, but as a guide the amount payable will be based on the rateable value of the property for business rates and for those businesses not in the rating list, grants will be based on the number of employees
Leader of the Council, Cllr Miles Parkinson OBE, said,
“In the last twelve months, we have issued more than £40m in additional funding and Hyndburn has been recognised nationally for leading the country in its efforts to support vital local businesses.
Following the Government previous announcement to delay to step 4 of the roadmap out of restrictions was being delayed, the Council have secured further funding to provide additional support to local businesses.
As the funding received is limited, it is likely that the level of grant that the Council may be able to award to businesses will be significantly lower than previous Grant schemes.
However, it is important that we continue to support our businesses throughout these difficult times ensuring funds are allocated to those businesses that have been forced to stop trading, or who have suffered financially under the Government’s imposed restrictions.
In line with revised Government guidance, businesses who have previously received support from the range of previous grant schemes are also encouraged to apply and can be considered for support from this scheme.
Applications for the Additional Restriction Grant scheme open from today, Monday 20 September 2021 and closes on Monday 04 October 2021. All the information needed to apply is on our website with the online form available 24 hours a day.
The Council would urge our community of businesses to apply whilst we are still moving out of restrictions”.
