To mark the start of Armed Forces Week, Hyndburn Borough Council will be holding a short service that will be taking place at 11:00am on Sunday 18 June 2023 at Accrington Town Hall.
The Mayor, Mayoress, and Council Leaders will be joined on the day by the Royal British Legion, Army, Sea, and Air Cadets to recognise all of the hard-work and dedication that underpins the work of the Armed Forces.
Cllr Terry Hurn, Mayor of Hyndburn, said:
“I am honoured to have the chance to show my support for our service community by taking part in this occasion. Military personnel, both past and present, and their families continue carry out such important work around the UK and further afield. I encourage the whole Hyndburn community to recognise this day – it provides a much-valued morale boost for troops and their families.”
The flag will be raised during the service and will continue to fly outside Accrington Town Hall all week as a sign of continued support for all those within the Armed Forces community.
Cllr Marlene Haworth, Leader of the Council, said:
“This will be a wonderful affair that I would urge the whole community to attend. Armed Forces Week is a chance for Hyndburn to show our support for all of those who help to keep us safe, whether they are currently serving troops, veterans, or service families. Everyone is more than welcome so please come along to the service and show your support.”
Armed Forces Week is the chance for all to show support for those who make up this community., taking place between Monday 19 June and concluding with Armed Forces Day on Saturday 24 June. The flag will be flown in Hyndburn to salute and pay tribute to the forces for all of their continued efforts.
