The big cash help for small businesses is part of the Government’s initiative to support those needing financial support during the current covid-19 pandemic.
Hyndburn Borough Council issued the first wave of payments to Small Businesses today [Wednesday April 1] via BACS and cheque payments.
Around 1600 payments are being made to local Hyndburn businesses under two emergency grant schemes, the Small Business Grant Fund and the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant. These payments should arrive in bank accounts, or at the registered business address by post, in the next few days.
Councillor Miles Parkinson OBE, Leader of the Council said:
“The payments we are making today are for those businesses that qualify under the Government’s rules and each business will receive either £10,000 if they qualify for Small Business Grant or £25,000 for the larger businesses which qualify for the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant, to help them at this difficult time.
“Council staff have worked as quickly as possible to process these payments including working over the weekend and with the money from Government just arriving today, we are really pleased to be able to get the money straight out to where it is needed.”
