Leader of the Council, Cllr Miles Parkinson OBE:
“In Hyndburn the rate of infection is very high and continuing to rise at an alarming rate. This is happening across the UK and we must act now to prevent further transmission in our community. Vaccination has shown to be very effective at reducing risk of illness and hospitalisation, but becoming unwell is not the only thing we need to consider.
“With the virus circulating in our community many people will need to isolate, this puts pressure on workforces and is a risk to essential services being able to continue. Our NHS are under tremendous pressure and I am urging everyone to help their fantastic efforts by following all guidance, making sure you are up to date with your vaccination and if you are unwell, please get a PCR test as soon as possible and isolate until you get your results.
“There is support available if you need it, no one in Hyndburn needs to struggle alone so please remember our Hyndburn Hub is still here to help. Our community is strong and together we are getting through the hardships this pandemic has brought.”
