Announced on Thursday 9th July, the scheme will incentivise customers to use eating establishments by offering a 50% discount on food and non-alcoholic drinks purchased Monday to Wednesday throughout August. This discount can then be claimed back by the business directly from the Government.
The scheme is UK wide and Hyndburn Council are asking for support in making sure all local businesses are aware of the registration process.
Miles Parkinson OBE, Leader of Hyndburn Borough Council said:
“It is key that all eligible Hyndburn businesses register for the ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme to encourage as many people as possible to use their vouchers in our local eatery’s. We are urging residents to let businesses know they need to register and to choose Hyndburn businesses to spend their money in.
We are also encouraging businesses to promote that they are part of this scheme once registered. They can do this on their own social media platforms and also harness our #ThinkHyndburn campaign by using the hashtag. Let’s work together to kick start our economy, save jobs and support our community.”
Establishments that are eligible for the scheme
Eligible establishments are those in which food is sold for immediate on-premises consumption. This could include:
- public houses that serve food
- hotel restaurants
- restaurants and cafes within tourist attractions, holiday sites and leisure facilities
- dining rooms within members’ clubs
- workplace and school canteens
