Hyndburn Council are ready to purchase ‘Bury Meadows’ in Oswaldtwistle, with plans to create a new Country Park for people to enjoy.
As part of wider plans to invest in all town across the borough, safeguard green spaces and improve wellbeing for all – the council have had an offer accepted for the land which spans over 80 acres, located near Stanhill, in Oswaldtwistle.

Cllr Miles Parkinson OBE, Leader of Hyndburn Borough Council said:
“A new country park will be created right here in Oswaldtwistle, thanks to Hyndburn Council purchasing these 87 acres of land, known as Bury Meadows. This land will become a new woodland park and is part of our wider plans to invest in all of Hyndburn’s towns, with green spaces and facilities a key priority.”
Cllr Caroline Montague, Green Ambassador, said:
“It is great to come here today and see the site in person. This country park development will support biodiversity and safeguard this wonderful outdoor space for future generations. I am really pleased the council are investing in this way and looking forward to being part of this exciting project.”
Cllr Marlene Haworth, Deputy Leader of the Council said:
“I am very passionate about the green space here in Oswaldtwistle, and in fact throughout the borough. The news of a new country woodland park being developed is fantastic news and it will be a great addition for the people, not only of Oswaldtwistle but of other townships within the borough and people from outside the borough.”
