In an effort to stop further spread of Covid-19 the RAPID test site, located on Broadway in Accrington, is now open to all for twice weekly testing. This new service is being offered in addition to the option of collecting tests from a local pharmacy or ordering them online for home delivery.
Cllr Miles Parkinson OBE, Leader of Hyndburn Borough Council:
“Hyndburn is experiencing a rise in Covid-19 cases and the variant of concern, first identified in India, is spreading in our Borough. The good news is hospital admissions remain low, we need to keep it this way. It is important we continue to work together, protect vulnerable people in our community and prevent our NHS services from becoming overwhelmed.
“Along with following all the guidelines we are asking everyone who lives or works in Hyndburn to get a test twice a week, even if you do not have symptoms. People can carry the virus without having any symptoms and potentially pass this onto someone who will then become unwell. Through frequent testing positive cases can be identified and further transmission can be stopped. I am urging everyone to take up this offer of free testing, twice a week. Help us keep the community safe, businesses open and protect each other.
“If you are asked to isolate by NHS Test and Trace there is support available. The Hyndburn Hub can help with deliveries of essentials and if you have lost income as a result of isolating you may also be eligible for a £500 self-isolation grant.”
