Free monthly craft sessions return to Accrington Market

The Art in the Market team are back!

Beginning on Saturday 2 October, children can enjoy arts and crafts sessions with activities including:

  • Face painting
  • Sand art
  • Freestyle arts and crafts
  • Story time

– plus much more, with snacks kindly provided by Smiths Fruiterers stall.

Every child will also receive a small gift and a voucher for a free book from the Book Exchange.

Young writers wanted

The arts and crafts sessions will be delivered by New Freedom, whose owner Kate Furey commented:

‘Like before, these sessions are suitable for all ages and abilities – but we’ve made a few changes this season.

‘We’ve decided to include the reading of a story written by a local child at each session.

‘The young writer chosen will receive a prize and their story will be read aloud by our storyteller.

‘So we’re looking for stories suitable for young children – if you know any budding young writers, please email kate@NewFreedomLtd.co.uk – with parental permission.

‘And we’re also keen for local businesses to sponsor gift bag items for children, so get in touch if you’re interested.’

Market Manager Sameena King added:

‘It’s great to see these arts and crafts sessions return to our beautiful Market Hall. We’re looking forward to seeing all the young artists having fun and excited to see what they create!’

The craft sessions have been funded by Hyndburn Borough Council
