Haworth Gallery Announce Summer of Events

To kick off the summer season, Haworth Art Gallery are bringing another jam-packed schedule of free, family-friendly events and activities over the coming months. Visitors can expect to find brand-new exhibitions, self-led craft activities, regular ‘Tour of the Stores’ sessions to learn more about Haworth’s collections, and more.

Following on from the recent successful return of the annual Accrington Camera Club exhibition, the summer programme of events will feature several new exhibitions covering themes like that of dance, the hidden history of Haworth’s collections, and the connections between indigenous crafts and sustainable climate action today.

Visitors now have the chance to see brand-new exhibition ‘Fashion and Dance Interlace’ which will be on display until 27 August, featuring a series of images which capture the artist’s personal passions for dance, fashion and photography.

Gillian Berry, Arts and Heritage Manager for Haworth Art Gallery, said:

“As a team, one of our great pleasures is being able to continue prioritising fun, free events and activities for all our visitors and local residents. We are especially excited to see the return of the Big Bike Revival – offering free bike maintenance and bike riding lessons for all ages – this summer, as well as our usual array of exhibitions and craft activities. There is a great range of different sessions to appeal to all ages and I look forward to seeing many new and returning faces this summer.”

Visitors will also have the chance this summer to take a sneak peek at the objects in Haworth’s collection that are not usually on display with both the new exhibition ‘Stories from the Stores’ launching on the 22 July, and Tour of the Stores sessions on 18 August and 1 September at 2:00pm. Like all museums, the size of the collections means that only a small percentage can be exhibited so this is fantastic chance to view objects and paintings that are usually hidden away.

Summer Holiday Art Club will once again be returning this Summer holidays, with a special focus on all things nature. Sessions will run every Wednesday throughout the school holidays and they will be completely free to attend – no booking required.

The much-loved Family Art Club will also continue to run every alternate Sunday throughout Summer 2023. These are great self-guided sessions that families can engage with at their own pace, with something available for everyone! The activities are suitable for all aged 2 upwards, and booking is not required for any of these sessions so please feel free to just turn up.

Haworth Art Gallery is FREE to visit and is open Wednesday to Sunday 12 noon to 4:00pm. For more information, call 01254 233 782 or follow Haworth Art Gallery and Artist Studios on Facebook to stay up to date with all their news and events.
