The Hub is part of a nationwide network of community hubs formed by Central Government in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.  Encompassing over 30 community groups the Hub has so far supported over 4,000 vulnerable people within the Borough, delivered over  6,000 meals and has over 160 registered volunteers who have given over 2,500 hours of their time offering support 7 days a week.

Cllr Harrison added; “My thanks also goes to all those working and volunteering for the Hub, you are making such  a huge difference to our community. Also to all the community groups, organisations and individual for your generous donations, I’m so proud to be Mayor of this Borough, where our community has united to meet the challenge of this crisis together.

During my year as Mayor, my Mayoress Joyce and I have felt so incredibly lucky to see just how many wonderful people we have here in Hyndburn who go that extra mile for others in their community, and never more so than now, during the Coronavirus pandemic.  This is a time in our shared history which has highlighted the kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity of so many people in the Borough who have volunteered, or given generously, to help those in our community who are vulnerable and in need.

I also want to say a huge thanks to all our amazing NHS staff and all key workers in the Borough for carrying on delivering essential services during this crisis, we are all so grateful for all that you do.”
