Cllr Miles Parkinson OBE, Leader of Hyndburn Council said:
“It has been announced today by Matt Hancock, Secretary of State, that Hyndburn will receive enhanced support from central government to tackle our increasing rates of Covid-19. This news of additional support is very welcome and our council officers will be working hard, along with many other organisations, to facilitate this.
“The enhanced support is being offered to all areas of Lancashire, aside from Blackpool, and will include additional resources being deployed to accelerate our vaccination roll out and increase testing. It has also been advised that people minimise travel to other areas and regions to help us prevent further spread of the variant of concern, first identified in India. Our rates are increasing and we must all work together to protect vulnerable members of our community and NHS services.
“The Hyndburn Hub is very much still available for anyone who needs support. Do not hesitate to reach out by calling 01254 388 111 or email enquiries@hyndburnbc.gov.uk. The network of community organisations in the Hub can help you with anything from shopping deliveries if you have to self-isolate to mental health support or benefits advice.”
