Joint statement: Sara Britcliffe, MP for Hyndburn, Cllr Miles Parkinson OBE, Leader of Hyndburn Borough Council and Cllr Marlene Haworth, Leader of the Opposition

At the end of July, we welcomed the first community testing facility to Hyndburn and since then over 1,800 tests have been done by the fantastic team. We are pleased to announce this community testing facility has now moved to Accrington Town Centre, located in front of the Town Hall, and all are invited to use it.

To visit this testing centre you do not need symptoms or an appointment, just turn up between the opening hours of 10am and 2:45pm, seven days a week. By working together and testing as many people as possible we can halt further transmission of Covid-19 in our Borough.

We are united in encouraging all people in Hyndburn to use this service, it is here for you and here to protect our community. People can carry the virus without having any symptoms, so by getting a test you are protecting those who may be more vulnerable. It is completely free, quick and easy, yet could save a life and protect your loved ones.

Next week schools in Hyndburn will also begin to reopen, for many families this will be the first-time children are going to school since March. Some people may be feeling a mixture of excitement and anxiety over this and we would like to reassure parents that the safety and wellbeing of residents in Hyndburn is our priority. We would like to give a huge thanks to all those in schools who have worked hard over the summer to ensure a safe reopening for children and for your continued efforts throughout this pandemic.

In this very quick moving situation, it is important everyone stays up to date with information. We encourage people to check the Hyndburn Borough Council website and social media often for new information and to share this with family, friends and neighbours. Through talking to each other we can keep our community safe.

Our Hyndburn Hub remains open and active for those who need urgent support. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you, or someone you know, is suffering and please let others know help is available. Providing essential and urgent support, the Hyndburn Hub can be contacted 7-days a week.
