After a successful bid to the Hyndburn Community Champions Fund, Maundy Relief have been able to widen their services to offer a full range of support to anyone who needs it.
Whoever you are, whatever problems you’re dealing with, whatever your race, religion, gender or sexuality, Maundy are here to help. Based in Accrington town Centre, Maundy are at the heart of the Hyndburn Community.
Lucy Hardwick, Manager at Maundy Relief, explains the types of things the staff and volunteers at the charity can help with: “At Maundy we can offer urgent help with things such as food parcels and shelter. Alongside this we work with lots of organisations to help people with their physical and mental health too.”
Maundy’s offer of ‘wrap-around support’ means people can get advice and information about everything from benefits to welfare, counselling or housing advice.
Lucy continued: “This pandemic has meant many people have felt the impact of a reduced income, redundancy or a change in circumstances. Some people may not have had to contact the DWP before for example, and we do not want anyone to go on this journey alone. Through using our services we can make sure everyone has the support they are entitled to.”
Maundy Relief also offer a free counselling service for young people aged between 11 and 18. This professional service is available for anyone who needs it, or anyone who would like an informal place to talk about their worries or concerns.
“When things are difficult we can often feel like we are alone. I would like to reassure everyone; you are not alone. Every single person is important and the team at Maundy are here to listen, to help and to support. Our services are always completely private and confidential.”
