Charity Fair 2021
On Saturday, August 21st, the Great Harwood Civic Society hosted a Charity Fair on its Town Hall Square. Local voluntary groups took the opportunity to raise funds and publicise the good work they do in the area.
The Great Harwood Town Crier “Cried the Fair”, a tradition going back to 1338 when King Edward III granted the town its Charter.
The Mayor of Hyndburn, Councillor Kathleen Pratt, and Hyndburn MP, Sara Britcliffe, presented the Town Crier, Rawden Kerr, and the Civic Society Chair, Maureen Tomlinson, with trophies won by Rawden in a national competition organised by the Loyal Company of Town Criers. More information about the Local Company of Town Criers can be found here.
The Civic Society would like to thank the voluntary groups for taking part and the people of Great Harwood for braving the rain and showing their support for this annual event
