Hyndburn Council to join national moment of silence for the Anniversary of the Ukrainian Invasion

A maroon flare will be launched and the Ukrainian flag will be raised at Accrington Town Hall as part of the national moments silence at 11am on Friday 24 February.

Following the government’s announcement of this national pause Hyndburn Borough Council are inviting the community to take part, to mark the one-year anniversary of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Cllr Miles Parkinson OBE, Leader of the Council, said:

“I want to personally extend my solidarity to everyone who has been affected by the ongoing war, and also thank all those who are helping people in need. We stand united with you, Ukraine.”

Over 50 people have arrived in Hyndburn as part of the Homes for Ukraine scheme and they continue to be supported in this integration with the community by host families, local organisations and the Council.
