This week the Official Accrington Stanley Supporters Trust (OASST) has pledged to donate 25% of it’s profits from the “virtual” 50/50 half-time draw to the Hyndburn Hub.
The 50/50 draw was established to help the club fund a memorial garden which is part-way through construction at the Wham Stadium. It replaces the physical 50/50 draw which takes place on matchdays at the Wham Stadium.
The garden will be somewhere people can visit to relax and reflect on past times with family and friends.
Peter Leatham, Chairman of OASST, said:
“For our weekly draw people are invited to purchase £1 tickets with the chance of winning 50% of the grand total which was over £1300 last week! The remainder of the money from the draw then goes towards completing the Accrington Stanley Memorial Garden. Our last winner, Steven Bradbury chose to donate £151 of his winnings to the Hyndburn Hub, particularly fantastic as Steven is a Stockport supporter!
To assist the huge efforts of the Hyndburn Hub and support our community further we will be donating 25% of the overall draw total (half of the Trust’s profits) to the Hyndburn Hub this week and hope this will also encourage lots more people to get involved.”
The Hyndburn Hub is the umbrella organisation which encompasses over 30 voluntary groups within the local area. Established to support residents throughout the covid-19 pandemic the Hub has so far helped over 2,000 people. Help is available from the Hub for a wide range of support including food banks, housing and mental health services.
The 50/50 draw takes place, for the next 6 weeks, on the Official Accrington Stanley Supporter’s Club Facebook page and this week’s tickets are available to purchase until midday on Saturday 2ndMay.
Ticket for the draw are available from https://onstanleyon.com/2020/04/11/50-50-draw/ and are £1 each.
