Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grants

On 21 December 2021, Government announced the introduction of grant support for hospitality and leisure businesses in England.

The scheme provides support to hospitality, leisure and accommodation businesses, in recognition that the rise of the Omicron variant means that some businesses are likely to struggle over the coming weeks.

This support will take the form of a one-off grant funding scheme in the Financial Year 2021-2022.

Under the Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant scheme, grants of up to £6,000 will be paid to hospitality, leisure and accommodation businesses.

To be eligible for the Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant, you must be liable for business rates and your business premises must appear on the Business Rates Valuation List, the business trading or engaged in business activity on 30 December 2021, and you must be registered as being liable for Business Rates with the Council on 30 December 2021.

The amount to be paid will be determined by the rateable value of the property for business rates purposes.

There are 3 rates of Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant payments as detailed below:-

 Rateable Value  Amount
 Exactly £15,000 or under £2667
 Over £15,000 and less than £51,000 £4000
Exactly £51,000 or over £6000

The scheme will operate in accordance with Government guidelines and funding availability.

Councillor Miles Parkinson OBE, Leader of the Council said,

“From the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have issued more than £37m in additional funding and Hyndburn has been recognised nationally for leading the country in its efforts to support vital local businesses.

It is important that we continue to support our hospitality and leisure businesses throughout these difficult times ensuring funds are allocated to those businesses in recognition that the rise of the Omicron variant means that some businesses are likely to struggle over the coming weeks.
