School Children Bring Joy to Accrington

This afternoon saw an annual event, the blessing of the crib, outside Accrington’s beautiful Victorian Market Hall.

Children from Green Haworth, Benjamin Hargreaves, and St Mary Magdalen’s C of E schools brought the community together with their joyous singing voices.  The children sang a number of uplifting and festive carols, including Silent Night and Away in a Manger, which were warmly received by onlookers.

Joining the general public were the Worshipful Deputy Mayor of Hyndburn, Councillor Mohammad Ayub, Hyndburn Council Leader, Cllr Miles Parkinson, Councillors Eamonn Holmes and Judith Addison,  the Area Dean of Accrington, Reverend Ian Enticott and Reverend Lawrence Carson-Feathom.
