Tennis players can enjoy brand new facilities at Peel Park in Accrington now, after the recent restoration of the courts there.
Councillors from Huncoat and Peel & Barnfield came together and suggested re-marking the tennis court area and installing vandal resistant tennis nets, after vandalism of the traditional tennis nets there.
Funds from both areas were used to install a new senior court and a junior/mini court, both with vandal resistant nets.
Cllr Paul Cox, Cabinet Member for Parks, said; “This is a fantastic addition to the already brilliant facilities at Peel Park and the Coppice. I hope local people make use of the new tennis courts as they will be available all year round. I would like to thank my fellow Councillors for the way they have worked together to make this happen.”
Cllr Eamonn Higgins, Councillor for Huncoat, said; “Hyndburn has some lovely parks and this will go to improve upon the already great facilities that Peel Park has to offer. This Council promotes being active to improve fitness levels in the Borough and I am pleased to see these new tennis courts open for public use again.”
