TWO FURTHER BUSINESS SUPPORT SCHEMES HAVE OPENED FOR APPLICATION

Local Restriction Support Grants:

(Closed Businesses) 17 December 2020 to 30 December 2020 –

Additional Restriction Grants:

(Open Businesses) 12 December 2020 to 08 January 2021

Hyndburn was placed in Tier 3 (Very High Alert level) which imposes restrictions on local businesses from Wednesday 2 December 2020. The Local Restriction Support Grant (LRSG) is a financial package for businesses which have been forced to close.

The financial support will apply to business forced to close originally from the 2 December to the 16 December and continuously from Thursday 17 December 2020 to Wednesday 30 December 2020.

The Local Restriction Support Grant will provide financial assistance and support to businesses which would have open, providing in person services to customers from their business premises and then required to close from the 2 December 2020 and continue to be closed in accordance with The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (All Tiers) (England) Regulations 2020.

The amount to be paid will be determined by the rateable value of the property for business rates purposes.  There are 3 rates of grant payments as detailed below:-

  • RV under £15,000                                      £667 every two weeks
  • RV between £15,000 to £51,000             £1,000 every two weeks
  • RV over £51,000                                         £1,500 every two weeks

Payments to eligible businesses will be made every two weeks provided the conditions of the grant continues to be met and the business confirms no changes in their circumstances.  The scheme will operate in accordance with Government guidelines and funding availability.

The Council has also launched the next phase of the Additional Restriction Grant scheme.

The Additional Restriction Grant will provide financial assistance and support to businesses which were open and trading but have been severely impacted during the period of localised restrictions.

The scheme is open to businesses that are both liable to pay business rates and appear in the Valuation Rating list as well as businesses that do not meet these criteria.

The level of grant award is at the discretion of the Council, but as a guide the amount payable will be based on the rateable value of the property for business rates and for those businesses not in the rating list, grants will be based on the number of employees

Councillor Miles Parkinson OBE, Leader of the Council said,

“In the last six months, we have issued more than £30m in additional funding and Hyndburn has been recognised nationally for leading the country in its efforts to support vital local businesses.

It is important that we continue to support our businesses throughout these difficult times ensuring funds are allocated to those businesses that have been forced to stop trading under the Government’s imposed restrictions.

Applications for Tier 3 Local Restriction Support Grant, and the Additional Restriction Grant scheme open from today, 22nd December 2020 and close on Wednesday 13th January 2021.  All the information needed to apply is on our website with the online form available 24 hours a day.

The application form incorporates a section around wet-led pubs that must be completed to receive an additional grant of £1,000.

I would urge our community of businesses to apply whilst we are still facing local restrictions”.
