Following complaints from residents in the New Lane area of Oswaldtwistle last week, the Council intervened and a temporary solution was carried out by the landowner from where the odour originated.
Subsequently the Council has worked with the land owner on plans to permanently remove the source of the odour. Excavation and specialist removal and disposal will commence on Friday the 31st of July and will conclude in approximately 7 days’ time under the Council’s supervision.
Unfortunately, during this process and period the odour is expected to become noticeable again.
We want to reassure residents that the odour is not believed to be hazardous and thank you for your patience in the meantime whilst this essential excavation is concluded.
