2018 Budget Announcements

The Government announced some changes to Business Rates which will be effective from 1 April 2019 in the budget on 29 October 2018. These were as follows:

• There will be a new relief scheme for retail properties that have a rateable value below £51,000. Under the scheme, eligible ratepayers will receive a one third discount for the years 2019/2020 and 2020/21. Hyndburn’s scheme was approved on 21 February 2019 and is available to view here.
