What you need to do prior to our visit –

Fleas

FleaVacuum the property the day before and move as many items as possible off the floor. Remove pet bedding and either wash or put in the dryer on hot for 5 minutes. Make sure your pet has been treated. You will need to vacate the property while the treatment is being carried out and for 2 hours after the treatment has finished.

Bedbugs
In the affected rooms, completely strip bedding and put the bedding into a tumble dryer on hot for approximately 5 minutes. Empty all wardrobes, under beds and bedroom furniture as this will all need to be treated. Vacuum the carpets.

Ants
There are many species of ant, the most common is the Black Garden Ant, which usually found in houses foraging for food. These ants nest in the soil, under paving stones or in the footings of walls. The nest entrance may be distinguished by small piles of fine earth which have been brought out.  It is helpful to deter ants coming into the property by removing food sources like sugary drinks and sweets and clearing up any spillages.

Wasps
Wasps are classed as a nuisance pest. They are best dealt with as soon as soon as the problem

Wasp arises. They do not pollinate and are seen to be a useless insect. However, they do collect insects from the gardens such as greenfly and aphids which can be beneficial to gardeners, vegetable growers in particular. Wasps start to build the nest as early as April and then become active around June. Wasps are best left to the professionals.  In the height of summer, an average wasp’s nest can hold thousands of wasps. If they are flying into a wall cavity it is most important not to block up the hole as they will find another way out and that’s usually inside the property.

We do not treat –

Slugs and Snails
Products are available from local DIY shops and garden centre.  You should seek advice from the staff and please always read the label before use.
We are not responsible for the removal of urban foxes.  Please see the RSPCA website for useful information on how to deal with foxes in your garden.

Bats
We do not deal with bats.  For information, help and advice about bats please contact the Bats Conservation helpline on 0845 1300 228 or visit the Bats Conservation Trust website.

Feral Cats
We are not responsible for the removal of feral cats.  Please see the RSPCA website for useful information and the Cats Protection website for more information.

Honey Bees
Although we do not treat honey bees we are in close contact with local bee keepers who will be more than happy to remove honey bees from your property. Please be aware that a well-established swarm is more difficult to remove from the property, so please call as soon as you see activity.

Masonary Bees
In early spring of each year we get many calls for the treatment of wasp’s nest, when in fact they are mainly masonary bees. These insects are golden brown in colour and have a furry body, unlike the common wasp which has bright yellow and black stripes and has a very smooth body.

Rabbits
Birds
Urban foxes
