Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000
The Corporate Policy and Authorisation Procedures Document is based upon the requirements of The Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (RIPA) Statutory Instruments, the Codes of Practice issued by the Home Office and the advice of The Office of the Surveillance Commissioners.
Hyndburn Borough Council takes it statutory responsibilities seriously and will at all times act in accordance with the law. In particular it will take all necessary and proportionate action that may be required in order to ensure compliance with the provisions of RIPA and the Human Rights Act 1998.
The Head of Legal and Democratic Services is authorised to keep this Policy and Procedures Document under review and will amend, delete add or substitute any of its provisions to such extent as may be necessary to keep it current.
