Sexual Entertainment Venues
Sexual Entertainment Venue Policy Consultation
Hyndburn Borough Council (the Council) is able to regulate sex establishments through Schedule 3 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 (the 1982 Act), in particular sex shops and sex cinemas.
On 6 April 2010 the Policing and Crime Act 2009 (the 2009 Act) came into force and amended Schedule 3 of the 1982 Act. Sexual Entertainment Venues (SEVs) were added as a category of sex establishments to enable local authorities to regulate those premises which provide lap dancing, pole dancing, table dancing, strip shows, peep shows and live sex shows and other similar entertainment.
From 24 January 2011 to 18 April 2011 we are consulting on our Sexual
Entertainment Venues (SEVs) Policy.
