Bulky Waste Collection

Hyndburn Borough Council offer a free collection once per calendar month of up to 6 items.

Our collections are done by 3 different teams. If you have items that fall into different categories, you will need to log separate requests for each team:

 

Recyclables:

Wooden items, Metal items, white goods and electrical items

Example: Tables, chairs, fridges, mattresses, washing machines etc.

 

Refuse:

Non-recyclable items, hard plastic items glass furniture

Examples: bed bases, carpet, glass table, plastic storage boxes etc.

 

Soft Furnishings:

Upholstered items and soft furniture

Examples: settees, armchairs etc.

 

 

What we can and cannot collect

We can collect furniture items, white goods and electrical items such as:

  • Bed including headboard
  • Black bags (up to 6)
  • Carpet
  • Cookers
  • Wooden Fire surround (excluding gas/electric fire, or marble sections)
  • Fridges/freezers
  • Bed bases
  • Dishwasher
  • Internal wooden door
  • Mattress
  • Microwave ovens
  • Table
  • Three piece suite
  • TV’s
  • Wardrobe

We cannot collect items like:

  • Any items that two people cannot lift safely
  • Batteries
  • Car parts including tyres and large items of machinery
  • Clinical Waste
  • Fluorescent lamps
  • Garage doors
  • Garden sheds
  • Gas cylinders
  • Builders waste
  • bathrooms
  • animal products like beds or hutches
  • Disability aids like walkers or commodes
  • Hazardous waste such as paint, oils and asbestos etc.
  • Plasterboard
  • Radiators
  • Rubble
  • Window frames/windows

These are not exhaustive lists.
