Hyndburn Council earmarks improvements to Oak Hill Park

Hyndburn Borough Council has earmarked £40,000 for improvements to Oak Hill Park. The money will be used specifically to improve security at the top bowling green, funding the installation of a new perimeter fence around the green.

This funding has been brought forward after the site has been frequently targeted by vandalism, damaging the surface of the bowling green and therefore affecting it’s use.

Councillor Kimberley Whitehead, Portfolio Holder for Parks and Open Spaces at Hyndburn Borough Council said:

“We are delighted to announce the allocation of £40,000 for the enhancement of Oak Hill Park. As one of our 11 prestigious Green Flag parks, Oak Hill Park is a cherished community asset, offering a wide range of facilities for residents and visitors alike.

This investment will specifically address the security concerns at the top bowling green by funding the installation of a new perimeter fence. By improving security, we aim to protect this valuable space from vandalism and ensure it remains an enjoyable area for all those who regularly use it. We are committed to maintaining the high standards of our parks and enhancing the quality of life for everyone in Hyndburn.”

The bowling green at Oak Hill Park is enjoyed by hundreds of Hyndburn residents throughout the spring and summer months. Enhancing security will ensure their leisure time remains uninterrupted (weather permitting) during this period. Work is expected to begin in around October of this year to coincide with the end of the new bowling season.
