Hyndburn Borough Council Launches New Grants Scheme to Support Local Businesses

Hyndburn Borough Council is offering grants to new and established businesses to help them grow, providing a boost to our local economy. The Council will support new businesses which demonstrate sustainability, growth and innovative ideas to help Hyndburn grow economically whilst also doing their part to help the planet.

Grants are also available for established Hyndburn based business looking to increase turnover, enter a new market, diversify, carry out a building expansion, purchase equipment, or achieve one of the many other criteria laid out in the scheme.

Councillor Scott Brerton, Portfolio Holder for Business and Growth said:

“We are proud to be offering grants to our local businesses and entrepreneurs. This will provide a fantastic boost to the local economy and help to unlock our abundance of local talent. Helping local businesses is one of the priorities of our Corporate Strategy and we know that there is support from our residents for this. Even a small amount of money can help launch a new business or give an existing business a boost.”

The grants will also contribute to the creation of new jobs as well as safeguarding existing roles, helping to provide job security for local people and a boost to our local economy.

Councillor Brerton added:

“It is an exciting time to be doing business in the Hyndburn area, with initiatives such as this providing a boost to our local economy. Over the last year the Council has already supported many businesses across Hyndburn through one-to-one support, training and advice sessions and shop front improvement grants. I cannot wait to see the kind of innovative businesses that are helped to thrive through these new grants. Hyndburn is a borough of hard-working people, and this will provide many of them the opportunity to grow.”

A total of £75,000 has been allocated, with £25,000 going to start-ups and £50,000 going to towards established businesses looking to expand their operations. Pre-start and start-up businesses can apply for a maximum of £2,500 while established businesses can apply for a maximum of £5,000.

Businesses relocating to Hyndburn from outside the borough will also be considered if they meet the eligibility criteria.

Businesses are invited to submit expressions of interest for grants to business@hyndburnbc.gov.uk. Expressions of interest should include business name, address and contact details, and whether you are interested in the start-up or growth grants.

The Council’s Economic Development Team will host a live online workshop on Tuesday 24th June, 12.15pm-13:00pm to provide further details on grant eligibility and the application process, as well as answer any questions.
