Work Completed on New Perimeter Fence at Oak Hill Park Bowling Green
Hyndburn Borough Council has completed the installation of a new perimeter fence around the bowling green at Oak Hill Park, Accrington, an investment aimed at improving safety, enhancing the site and supporting local bowlers ahead of the new season.

The project was approved last year following incidents of vandalism and concerns raised by regular users of the bowling green. The new fencing has been installed by local contractor TSB Ironcraft.
Councillor Kimberley Whitehead, Deputy Leader of the Council, welcomed the completion of the works, saying:
“It’s fantastic to see this investment completed and ready in time for the bowlers’ return this spring. We listened carefully to the concerns raised by the community, and this new fencing will help protect the green and ensure it remains a welcoming, well maintained space for everyone.”
Councillor Stewart Eaves, Portfolio Holder for Environmental Services, added:
“This is a great example of the Council responding to residents’ needs and working with local contractors to deliver high quality improvements. Oak Hill Park is a valued community asset, and this fencing will make a real difference in preserving the bowling green for years to come.”
Planting in the surrounding flowerbeds will take place soon, further enhancing the site as bowlers prepare to return this spring for the start of the new season.
On the back of the success of this project, the Council last week allocated funding as part of its 2026/27 capital programme to carry out a similar project at the bowling green in Mercer Park, Clayton-Le-Moors.
