Hyndburn Borough Council Launches Business Grants Programme for 2026/27 to Support Local Enterprise
Hyndburn Borough Council has launched a new round of business start-up and growth grants for 2026/27 to support a new wave of local entrepreneurs, helping to boost the borough’s economy, create jobs and unlock new private investment.
After the success of last year’s programme which was funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), the Council has this year extended the scheme through internal funding.

The scheme is now open to applications from eligible businesses based in Hyndburn. The programme offers financial support to both new enterprises and established businesses looking to invest, diversify or grow. Start-ups can apply for grants of up to £2,000, and hose looking to grow an existing business up to £5,000.
Applications are now open and businesses are encouraged to express their interest as early as possible. The grant programme will remain open on a rolling basis, subject to available funding.
Councillor Munsif Dad, Leader of the Council, said:
“We are proud to continue supporting Hyndburn’s ambitious and hard-working business community through this year’s grants programme. Last year’s scheme showed the real difference targeted investment can make, helping businesses grow, create jobs and bring new ideas to the borough.”
The grants build on the success of last year’s programme, which saw strong demand from businesses across the borough. Last year, £77,500 in business support grants were allocated to businesses across Hyndburn. This supported eight business start-up grants and 13 business growth grants, helping businesses to expand and innovate.
The programme generated a total leveraged investment of over £200,000 in private sector funding, highlighting growing confidence in Hyndburn’s business community, and included the creation of 32 new jobs and the safeguarding of a further 56 jobs within the borough.
Emma Woan, Director at Education Business Partnership said:
“We used the Growth Grant to invest in a new CRM system, enabling us to automate what had previously been a highly paper-based process. This significantly reduced the time required to complete daily administrative tasks, allowing staff to focus more on sales activity. This ultimately contributed to an increase in sales, as well as support our goal to become net zero.”
Cllr Munsif Dad continued:
“These grants are about giving local businesses the confidence to invest in their future while strengthening Hyndburn’s economy for the long term. We would encourage any eligible businesses to come forward and find out more about the support available.”
Businesses interested in applying can also attend the Council’s upcoming online information session on the grant programme, taking place on Wednesday 3 June, 12pm–12:45pm. Delivered by the Council’s Economic Development Team, the workshop will provide guidance on eligibility criteria, the application process and how businesses can maximise their chances of success. Free tickets to the information session are available on Eventbrite.
