The project is creating a revitalised town centre destination, with Accrington Market set to combine traditional market shopping with exciting new food, drink and social experiences, creating a welcoming community hub at the heart of the town.
Design consultants, Conception Design Associates (CDA), specialists in commercial catering design, supply and installation, are delivering the market’s catering fit-out package while working alongside local contractors to prepare the venue for opening.
Lee Watson, Managing Director at Conception Design Associates, said:
“Being local to the area, I have experienced much of what Accrington’s social life had to offer in my younger days, and to now be able to work alongside the local council to deliver this fantastic new facility, feels like we have gone full circle and I am now giving back.”
CED Fabrications, based in Clayton-le-Moors, is manufacturing and installing the kitchen fabrication, food kiosk counters and central bar. The company has more than 35 years’ experience in the sector and is one of the largest catering equipment and counter manufacturers in the UK and Ireland. They employ over 100 people at their Clayton-Le-Moors site including two new apprentices.
Stuart Russell, Sales Director at CED Fabrications, said:
“I am really looking forward to working alongside Lee and his team at CDA, and the local council on such a fantastic local project which will showcase a dining out experience not to be forgotten.”
Haslingden-based PMJ Kitchen Ventilation has been appointed to supply and install the kitchen extraction systems for each kitchen within the market, alongside ductwork and stainless steel wall cladding. With more than 22 years’ experience in the commercial catering industry, the company is helping to create high-quality facilities for future traders.
Paul Jackson, Managing Director at PMJ Kitchen Ventilation, said:
“Supplying and installing the extraction canopies is about more than just fitting equipment, it is about building the foundation for Accrington’s future. By equipping the historic market with modern, top-tier facilities, we are empowering local food traders to share their passion and proudly serve our community for generations to come.”
Councillor Clare Pritchard, Portfolio Holder for Transformation and Town Centres at Hyndburn Borough Council, said:
“One of the great strengths of this project is the involvement of businesses from right here in our local area. The expertise being provided by companies in Clayton-Le-Moors, Haslingden and others across Lancashire and the North-West is helping us deliver a quality facility for residents, traders and visitors, while also supporting local jobs and keeping some of the significant investment within our local economy. I’m particularly pleased that the much of the kitchens, food stands and bar area is being manufactured just 2 miles down the road in Clayton-Le-Moors.”
“The Accrington Town Square redevelopment is transforming the heart of our town. As we approach the final stages of the regeneration of Accrington Market and Burtons Chambers, it’s fantastic to see local businesses playing such an important role in making that vision a reality.”
“I’m so excited to see these finishing touches provided by local suppliers upon completion of the work and when we reopen in November.”
Accrington Market is set to reopen in November 2026.
