Phase 2 of the project has been delivered by lead contractor Krol Corlett, and the ambitious project has breathed new life into the historic property, creating a high-quality workspace and business hub designed to support entrepreneurs, growing businesses and organisations looking to establish a presence in Accrington.

Following completion of the works, the building has now been formally handed back to Hyndburn Borough Council ahead of its operational handover to the new operator 2-Work.

As a key element of the wider Town Square development project, Burtons Chambers represents a significant investment in the future of Accrington town centre. Alongside the redevelopment of Accrington Market and wider public realm improvements, the project is helping to create a destination that will support economic growth, attract investment and encourage more people to spend time in the town centre.

The completed building combines modern, flexible workspace with the character and heritage of one of Accrington’s most recognisable buildings, creating a facility that will serve local businesses for years to come.

Councillor Clare Pritchard, Portfolio Holder for Transformation and Town Centres at Hyndburn Borough Council said:

“The completion of Burtons Chambers is a fantastic achievement and a proud moment for everyone involved in this project.”

“We’ve transformed one of Accrington’s most prominent historic buildings into a modern, high-quality workspace that will help support businesses, create opportunities and contribute to the continued regeneration of our town centre.”

“This development demonstrates our commitment to investing in Accrington’s future and creating spaces that encourage enterprise, innovation and growth.”

“I’d like to thank everyone who has played a role in bringing this vision to life. Burtons Chambers will be an important asset for the borough for many years to come, and we’re excited to move into the next phase with 2-Work.”

Daniel Tebay, Managing Director of Krol Corlett said:

“We’re proud to have completed the transformation of Burtons Chambers and formally handed this beautiful building back to Hyndburn Borough Council.”

“Projects such as this play an important role in preserving historic buildings while adapting them for modern use. We look forward to seeing the facility become a valuable asset for businesses and the wider community.”

“The quality of the building that has been delivered is outstanding. It provides the kind of modern, flexible workspace that businesses increasingly expect, while retaining the character and heritage that makes Burtons Chambers such a special place.”

“We see huge potential in Accrington. There is a growing community of entrepreneurs, start-ups, remote workers and established businesses looking for high-quality workspace. We look forward to creating a thriving business community within the building.”

Our ambition is for Burtons Chambers to become much more than just office space. We want it to be a hub for collaboration, innovation and business growth that helps support the continued success of Accrington town centre and the wider borough.”

The new facility will offer a range of flexible workspace options, meeting rooms and business support facilities, providing a modern base for businesses of all sizes.
