Memorial Park activity booklets

Two booklets, "Memorial Park Biological Heritage Pack" and "Memorial Park Heritage Pack," were created as part of a 2024 park regeneration project in Great Harwood to help people learn more about the park's natural and historical aspects. Both packs contain lesson plans and resources for Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2) students to use the park as an outdoor classroom. The "Biological Heritage Pack" focuses on habitats, species, and ecosystems, including a nature trail and bug hunting activities. The "Heritage Pack" concentrates on the park's history, featuring lessons on creating a timeline and a historical landmark scavenger hunt. The park's history dates back to at least 1085 when it was a woodland area, and it has been a public space since 1921. The first part of the park to be built was the WW1 War Memorial in 1926.
