What are the symptoms of food poisoning?

Symptoms will vary depending on which type of food poisoning you have, but will usually include some or all of the following:

  • Nausea (feeling sick) and/or vomiting (being sick)
  • Headache
  • Diarrhoea
  • Stomach cramps
  • Fever
  • Abdominal pain
  • Aching muscles

We will investigate reports of illness. Please contact us, to report such illnesses or make a complaint about a food premises that you think might be linked to your illness.

The only way of finding out whether you have food poisoning is to provide a stool (faecal) sample for testing. This can be arranged by your doctor. If you have medical concerns, you should seek advice from your doctor.
