You cannot claim housing benefit if:

- You do not pay rent
- You live at home with your parents
- You do not live in the house you are claiming for
- You cannot normally receive housing benefit if you or any of your children are related to your landlord.
- You do not fall into the following categories:
- You and your partner are both state pension credit age. If you are not sure, you can check your state pension age online.
- You live in temporary or supported accommodation.
