Accrington Neighbourhood Board Seeking Additional Members
The Accrington Neighbourhoods Board is looking for additional members to help shape and guide its investment in the town.
The Board wants to hear from people who have a local connection and feel they can make a positive contribution. To broaden the range of experience and voices involved, expressions of interest are particularly welcome from:
- Young people
- Voluntary, community or faith representatives
- People with business and commercial skills, including the night-time economy or retail
- People working in health and in education
- People with environmental expertise
Expressions of interest will be considered, with a shortlist drawn up to ensure a good mix of experience. Shortlisted people will then be invited to an informal discussion about the role.
Sami Smithson, recently appointed as independent Chair of the Board, said:
“We want the Board to reflect the full range of voices and experiences in Accrington. This is a chance for people with a connection to the town to step forward and help shape its future. If you feel you can make a positive contribution, we’d love to hear from you. If you are interested, please contact becky.moon@hyndburnbc.gov.uk by 11 October, briefly explaining what you could bring to the Board. If you would prefer to share your interest in a different format, such as a short video, this is fine too.”
Councillor Munsif Dad, Leader of Hyndburn Borough Council said:
“Accrington is on the verge of significant investment, and we want local people to help steer that journey. This is a real opportunity to shape the future of the town and ensure that investment reflects the needs and strengths of our local area.”
The Neighbourhoods Board has been established to deliver the UK Government’s Pride in Place Strategy funding, with almost £20 million allocated to Accrington, spread over a 10 year period.
